Radio Show

It’s been quite a while since I’ve had time to put an episode of the radio show together, although part of the reason is because I wanted to use my actual records rather than mp3 rips from the internet. I’ve found a way to do this I think, in fact I’ll find out later today as I’m waiting for the small piece of equipment to arrive so I can try it out. Using my actual records will mean it will take even longer to put a show together, however, I think I’ll be happier with it.

So this is the thing I’m waiting for:

  • High-quality usb audio interface connects your turntable, cassette
  • Transfer and restore your valuable vinyl records and tapes to your computer via a simple usb connection
  • Massive software bundle includes audacity vinyl restoration, noise-reduction, editing and recording software, comprehensive podcasting software and over 150 virtual instruments and effect plug-ins
  • Revolutionary energyxt2.5 compact music production software included with feature-rich audio/midi sequencer that loads almost instantaneously on all computer platforms
  • Phono input switchable to line input source

This allows the phono outputs on the back of the amplifier to be connected directly to a mac book, or at least I think it does. I did do some research and I think it will be ok. This will allow me, hopefully, to use the records I have, pops and crackles and all, and will allow for some extra bits an pieces as well which will make things more interesting I think. We’ll find out soon enough when I get to grips with everything.

So that’s that, just a little update.

  1. I have something similar (older), a Creative SounBlaster, connects in the same way. If you can get a copy of Adobe Audition, it works really well, if a bit daunting at first.

  2. I cannot wait…..

Crap day lost some major business at work and my first football hero died today.
    Music always helps.
List of stuff I have bought recently.
    Steven Wilson / Transience
    John Smith / Headlong
    War Paint / Heads Up
Dobbie Brothers / Minute by Minute
    Chromatics / Kill for Love
    Raconteurs / Broken Boy Soldiers
    Wildwood Kin / Turning Tides
Robert Vincent / Life in Easy Steps
    Oh Hellos / Dear Wormwood

    Love and light

  3. I had an interface that I bought years ago, for a different reason, but it is so old there is no software that will run it on current operating systems! I have a copy of Cubase somewhere that I used to use, I’m familiar with that, but the test recordings I’ve done so far leave me tempted to do nothing with the audio at all, just play it as it is warts and all.

  4. Every day is a crap day to different degrees, in the same way that it is a great day, but sometimes more difficult to identify why. Butch going was bloody sad, such a shame. Couple of those I haven’t heard, I’ll check them out, how is the Raconteurs album, I haven’t listened to that one yet, really liked their second though.

  5. Hi Vez
I wanted to get the second album by the Raconteurs (after reading your blog) but the price was better on the first one. So far so good (Can’t really go wrong with Jack White). Will probably get the second one eventually.

  6. I’ve been popping in to see when the next broadcast was coming. So you will be back in business. Good. I see so much stuff I want to comment on with your takes. I’ll bracket some time and get to it. Later. CB
